Migrating Content from 5.6 to 6.5

Hello All,

I got a requirement to Migrating Content from 5.6 to 6.5. So, can any one please help me what are all the steps involved in that?

Hi ,

You can migrate the content from 5.3 to 6.5 using third party vendor Bulldozer tool.

While migrating from older version to newer versions please consider below points.

If any workflows needs to be migrated. If yes then plan to migrate active and completed workflows.
If any annotations needs to be migrated.
If any third part vendor integrated with older version or not.

Here are few ways but which are not feasible.

Are you going to migrate content from 5.3 to 6.5? if you are planning to move from 5.3 to 6.5 then upgrade it to 6.5.In this case you no need to migrate content.
Upgrade old system to 6.5 and use DUMP/LOAD to migrate content to new system(6.5). DUMP/LOAD will not for cross repositories.
Use Clone repository option. But this is not recommended as owner name of the repositories get changed.You need to follow tons of queries to update owner of the objects. THIS IS NOT RECOMMENDED.
DFC code to import the content and metadata into 6.5.
