How to convert Java program to Job in Documentum

I am very new to Documentum world.

We have a java program(IDE eclipse) that is outside the documentum and outside composer that we run from eclipse. This program mass uploads (bulk upload) files stored on windows server to the documentum repository along with some meta-data using dfc.jar and all.My question is how can I take this java program and move it in documentum to run as job.

There are numerous post on this subject… Search the forum.

1. Jar goes into ./Documentum/dba/java_methods

2. You create a dm_method object that refers the class

3. You create a dm_job that refers to the job

Its well outlined in the manuals and numerous post, and other blogs

First of all you Java class will be implementing IDmMethod interface and it will have execute method.

Create this method into Documentum using DA and deploy this class to your CS under java_methods folder.

Then create a Job and restart your method Server.

NO NO NO!!! unless you want a world of pain when deploying... doing that means you have to have file system access to each Content Server node.... rather a pain when deploying to large env with many nodes.

Another problem with this approch is that you need to get a jar file (mthdservlet.jar) from a content server.

Use IDfMethod (and IDfModule for BOF framework)
