Is anyone running ADTS and xPlore on the same Windows server?

In order to save resources, we are running ADTS and xPlore on the same Windows Server 2008 box (64-bit) in our Development and Test environments.  The committed memory is running very high and we're seeing 3 java.exe threads taking up a lot of memory.  These are not large boxes (just under 5 GB RAM).

There is very low load on both of these applications in these environments, and in fact much of the time nothing is happening.  I assume what's going on is just the normal polling looking for new items to process.

Is anyone else runnning this configuration, and have you been able to tune the apps to use less memory?  We are on Dctm 6.7 SP1.

This is expected behaviour as xPlore suite is pretty hoggish application (according to the release notes - the expected RAM on the host is min 4 GB ?).

The tuning is as simple as tunning JAVA VM memory parameters .

For U*ix/xPlore  - check <xPlore_home>/jbossx.x.x/server folder and files :

- startCPS.sh

- startIndexagent.sh

- startPrimaryDsearch.sh

In your case maybe the extension is .bat or .cmd besause of the OS used or these settings are part of service descritions in the registry ?

There is parameter in these files - Xmx - which sets the initial max amount of memory reserved for the particular Java VM. You could try to decrease this parameter (e.g. 2048->1024).

I'm not sure what will be the effect of changing this on xPlore stability though.

For ADTS such parameter could be found in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\DocumentumCTS\Parameters, but here the defaut value is low enough.
