How to automatically create document, start workflow after insert in database

Hello,

could you help me with Documentum problems:

- how to automatically create document after insert in a table created by me and

set some of the data in that table as attributes?

- after document creation, how to start workflow automatically after a document

type is created in repository or after insert in a table created by me?

- and the last one, how to automatically populate document template with

document attributes?

Thank you in advance, this is so important to me, and if you could give me

advises or answers, please help me.

1) Write custom server method to look for new rows in your table and use create object method

2) Write this in the server method. If you want to start workflow when a user imports a document, you can write a TBO and use the same start workflow logic.

About the third question, i mean when i create document of any possible object_type and set some custom attributes, i want to populate custom template, for example in msword document, and replace metadata with the attributes. How can that be done?

About the first and second question, as I understood you, it can be done by custom server method. Could you give me any example about something similar that can help me, because I am quite new to Documentum. And the most important to me, even if I have that method, where should I invoke it(on which event)?

1) The are libraries on the internet that support updating Word document properites. You would have to integrate these libraries with your custom server code.

2) There are plenty of examples on the community. Try searching first. If you are using TBO, then you can extend doSave and check if doc isNew to call your custom business logic.
