Looking for the best approach for adding 2nd package at an intermediate activity

Hi,

In my workflow an intermediate activity performer need to add another package (2nd document). Shall I add one more package to the beginning (Initiate) itself or can I add at that intermediate activity performer? What is the best approach?

Please share your knowledge and experiences for figuring this out.

Yes. You need to add the second package and make it optional in workflow template .

If the package has to be added only in the second activity, you can try the below

- make the package 'invisible' and 'optional' in first activity.

- 'visible' and 'optional' in second activity

You can do the above setting in 'Activity Inspector' > Data Tab.

You can to have 2 packages defined in your process.

In runtime , the package can be added at any stage.

You mean I can add one more package in my Workflow template in the beginning itself....RIGHT!!!

In my situation, Workflow Supervisor will add only one document when the workflow is started. An intermediate performer may or may not add another document. Is there a way to allow ONLY that specific intermediate performer to add 2nd package? If not, can I define an optional package to be added by the Workflow Supervisor? What are the options for my issue and how can I implement? Please give me some details.

In our environmnet we decided to use workflow attachments, you can add and remove them at will and the workflow will be ok. Our workflow has one empty package ( workflows require at least one package in our version of Documentum, not sure about newer versions ), and two "required attachments" ( enforced via custom activities ). It worked out very well for us. This method also allows you to dynamically add attachments whenever you need to.
