Large results truncated

Hi all,

I have a problem when I use getXMLString() method on IDfXQuery object with large response. After a certain limit, I get the beginning and the end of the response but I lose a part in the middle. So I get an invalid XML reply.

Have you ever had this problem ?

Your seem to have another post (https://community.emc.com/thread/144474) on a Documentum forum on this subject, from which I gather that you are using Documentum with XML Store.

If you swith off XML Store, does the problem go away?

Is the problem affected by memory or page size?

I already try to switch off XML Store but the result is the same.

It's strange because I use two differents ways to make join between RDBMS Documentum and xDB, until a certain size limit, these two ways give me exactly the same results but when I select more fragments into xDB the result is truncated for one of them.

When my selection is even larger, the reply is truncated for the two queries.

My xmlStore contains about 26 000 fragments of 4k each and after a selection of approximately 2000 of them, the reply is truncated.

IDfXQuery is a documentum interface, not an xdb interface, right?

And you got the same result with XML Store disabled?

As I understand it, without XML Store enabled, Documentum stores your xml data in its own database.

If it didn't, you would not be able to get at the XML data at all.

If without XML Store your problem still persists, it's very unlikely to be in xDB, or in the connection between Documentum and XML Store.

So, your problem is likely to be in Documentum.

Have you tried using more memory?

Sorry I understood "restart" the xmlStore.

If I switch off xmlStore I can't connect to it, I can't execute xQueries and that's what I want to do.

I tried using more memory, I increase caches but nothing changes.

I didn't find errors in logs ... it doesn't help me

Just guessing: maybe there's an size issue with getXMLString. A web search returned 'exceeded the defined length of the property, DFC quietly truncated the value to the...', and a possibly relevant section in the XML-Application-6-5-Development-Guide ends with 'The major advantage of using readResults() is to fix memory operation, even if the result size is large'.

I suggest you ask in the Documentum Developer Community (https://community.emc.com/community/edn/documentum).

Unless your xquery gives truncated results when run from the xdb Admin Client, I doubt your problem comes from xDB.

I already tried using readResults() but I had the same issue and the dfc.compatibility.truncate_long_values property is setted to false so I should get an exception but I get nothing.

Indeed, XDB Admin Client gives me a correct result but after searching the side of the DFC and JBoss, I don't know where can I find a solution to my issue.
