Training Environment

Hi,
I was wondering if a training database could be located on the same box as the production database but using the same middle tier, webserver and indexer? We only have a production and development environment and we are in desperate need of a training environment, however we may not have the resources ($$$) to purchase servers to create an identical structure as the one that we have in production.
Can someone give me some ideas on you did it?
Thanks
