geting validation error "User must input a value" on import

i have set validation = 'false' in jsp and manually calling the validate() method from onCommit changes.

in jsp i have <dmfx:docbaseattributevalue object="docbaseObj" attribute="page_format" readonly="true"/> this attribute at docbase level

but when i am importing showing error Page Format : "User must input a value".

can any one tell me why this is happening NOTE: this code was working for 6.5 only this is throwing error for 6.7 sp1

I presume page_format is a custom attribute. Did you make it required? This is what the error msg is indicating.

Is this attribute defined on your custom type or on parent custom type? You can define whether an attribute is required differently on different levels of the type tree.

pw_document-->tpub_request-->tpub_rfi and this attribute is on tpub_rfi

Have you run the data dictionary publishing job and restarted your app server?

Hi johny,

i have checked once again, attribute is not required.

this was working in previous version 6.5. This is not working in 6.7 sp1 so i am not understanding what thay(EMC) have changed something in 67 sp1.

can you please post the screen shot import screen (with this attribute).

also, can you please double check by executing following query:

select not_null,is_required from dmi_dd_attr_info where attr_name = 'page_format' and type_name = '<CUSTOM TYPE NAME WHICH YOU ARE SELECTING ON IMPORT>';

Hi Tejraj,

i run the query and found that not_null="1" and is_required="0". can u tell me from where this property is set?

because at docbase level i have not given any constraints for not null.

if you look at configuration (screen shot you posted above), following is unchecked:

"Attribute can have NULL value"

Since you have not checked it, it means that it can not contain NULL and that is why you are getting this error on import.

Please check "Attribute can have NULL value", deploy the docapp with changes and test again.

Hi tejraj,

i found that in 6.5 it was saving the value for this attribute. but in 6.7 it is not saving the value using previous code . when i took the control again and save the value it worked.

Thanks attribute was set to not null(correct).

but it will be helpfull if u please tell me d difference between the 1st and 3rd check boxe.
