Problem with Datagrid

Well topic covers it all...

with this i get the content of the dataprovider.. all is fine.. BUT!!!

on the other hand when i try to get the info directly from the datagrid with code like this

well it_list(aka cycling row) works..

I get 5 rows..

when i invoke getcontainedcontrols on the datagridrow nothing is returned, apparently no control are contained inside it_control iterator elements... for no rows..

the grid i'm pointing to is the VERY same that i'm pointing to in the first method, and obviously even in the first method if i try to access the elements of the row with getcontainedcontrols i get nothing in return..

btw the jsp for the datagris has this structure:

Either this is a major mistep on my end or there's something that's not working, because i've even tried using the code that is listed on the development guide (after fixing it, becase there are a few ERRORS on the top of it not working on my end).

Thanks in advance to whoever manage to somehow help me or point me toward a new direction...

getContainedControls() returns empty iterator because child controls should be initialized first (createControl() in ControlTag calls setContainer(Control) for parent control).

If you would like to catch control initializing the better way is use IControlListener interface.

lest i'm missing something painfully obvious with wdk that should suffice...

I'm getting getcontainedcontrols() iterator empty from the single rows, pity I'm not declaring any of the controls that are "located" inside each dmfgridrow, but i'm instead delegating the replication of this control to the datagrid structure after the fashion that is dictated in the datagridrow tag....

hence when you speak about initialization of these childelements i'm quite baffled, so if you care to elaborate...

method voidaction is a sample method i just wrote on the fly..

it gets the list of datagridorow associated to a datagrid correctly..

it gets 5 row.. each row gets iterated..

on each row i use a getcontainedcontrol and i iterate the iterator but i get nothing, it won't iterate for each istance has no "subelement"..

and i can't guess why

Parent control gets child controls during rendering child tags or explicit call of createControl method.

basically this should get a tag (dmf image) from the datagrid an change its content (changing its blank path with the virtual link to the image whose data i'm showing on the list)..

So what you're saying is that an empty datagrid with just a generic rowstructure in the jsp that gets replicated/filled programmatically (aka i let the datagrid class replicate each row based on the structure i give in the jsp) then won't have any contained control, because explicitely each and every row haven't been initialized?

then if not with getcontainedcontrol on each datagridrow, how am i supposed to get the content of the datagridrow?

In that case the best way is create custom image tag and put your logic there, if you prefer use components for such logic use IControlListener interface, see complete example:

indeed i could, but i was fancing doing some postprocessing at the datagrid and i'm quite puzzled as to why i can't access the data..

perchance said data on each datagridrow that is generated via the controller is "accessible" only doing the onrender?
