Execute custom activity template method as job

I think I've been reading enough now to actually know the question I need to ask:

Can I set a job's method name attribute to a method that has as its Verb attribute an instance of com.documentum.bpm.rtutil.WorkflowMethod? Will the method parameters, including those passed by the "Pass Standard Arguments" flag be passed in to the doTask(IDfWorkitem arg0, IDfProperties arg1, PrintWriter arg2) method as properties and will a a workitem and PrintWrite be passed in as well?

In other words, is WorkflowMethod compatible with Documentum jobs?

If not, I'm considering creating a single method that implements IDfMethod and takes a parameter specifying the name of a WorkflowMethod and then constructs and executes an instance of the WorkflowMethod. This way I can write all methods as WorkflowMethods, anyone see a problem with that approach?

Workflow methods have a very specific signature (set of arguments that they expect).

Can you explain your use case? I my opinion it makes no sense to execute a one time task of a workflow in a job.

Let me clarify. I wish to not have more than one kind of server method. As I currently understand it there are three different ways a server method can be written, depending on how it will be executed:

1. Implement IDmMethod - copy to dba/java_methods

2. Implement IDfMethod - copy to dba/java methods or implement IDfModule and package as a simple module

3. Extend the abstract class WorkflowMethod and optionally implement IDfModule and package as a simple module

What I am proposing is writing all server methods using #3 but for it to still be possible to use them in use-cases where #1 or #2 would be appropriate.

Update: Determined that it may not be possible (or at least not easy) due to doTask being protected.

I'm working on a solution to this but hesitate to post it until I've tried it.
