Problem with Display Configuration in webtop

Hi all,

I need your help/advice. I have some custom types with custom attributes. I write labels for the attributes, in Composer, in Attributes/General tab.

I select webtop in Scope in the Display Configuration under the Display tab, also in Composer.

After the installation of the project, and restart of the app server, when I login through webtop, I can not see labels, but I can see them from DA.

What is the problem and how to solve this?

We use Documentum 6.7.

Please help me.

In Composer 6.7, select your project, right click for pop up menu. Select last item "Generate Localization Template". That will create a new project folder called locales. Copy and pate the generated "locales\en" folder, to "locales\<your locale key>". Edit the files under "\locales\en_GB\Artifacts\Types" to add your locale labels.

When installing the project into repository, tick the box for locales and select the locales folder. After that do the usual tricks of

a data dictionary publish,
stop clients, clear caches and restart

Did you run the data dictionary job? Also, in your display configuration, verify that you selected webtop application for the scope.

Thank you Johnny for your fast response.

I did select webtop scope, that's why it is strange that it works from Documentum Administrator only, not from webtop.

What is the procedure of running the data dictionary job? I need to run it and restart the app server and then try again?

I did not mentioned that the problem is not that some of the atributes are not shown, but the problem is that the Labels are not shown.

Hello All,

We usually use Webtop in Macedonian Language and DA in English. When I tried login to webtop in English, everything worked as expected: all atributes are shown with their Labels(not attribute Name), as it is in DA. So, I supose it is to the Language, because those custom attributes are not translated in NewDocumentNlsProp.properties file.

How to resolve this? I have no idea, because there are lot of custom types, with different atributes and the customers will use webtop in Macedonian Language.

Please help me.

I'm not quite following you. Did you enter the labels in Composer in Macedonian? A screenshot would be helpful.

Brian, your help was what I needed to do and it has worked. Anyway, one more question: in the original, i.e. en locale I wrote macedonian words in the Label and it it ok. What if I write words in english and then repeat what you said, than it won't be translated as I can understand the situation, or am I wrong?

You would need to redo the labels for your Macedonian locale. Think of locale as just a language specific mapping. The default locale (english) has default English labels. If you create new locale, you need to redo the labels to your desired language.

Changes you make in Composer Type Editor, will be reflected in the "locales\en\Types" folder after you run the "Generate Localization Template" command. Files under "locales\<my locale>\Types" will not be effected.

Personally I would stick with the English labels in the Composer Types Editor. I would use a directory comparision tool to copy over updates (e.g. new attributes) to your extra locales.
