simple search customization

Hi Experts,

I need to customize simple search in webtop 6.5.

Can I scope the component so that it searches on only 2 custom types?

If yes how can this be done?

Also,how do I modify the search query to take care of this requirement?

Any pointers will be appreciated.

if first can be done, then why would you need the second option?

You can be able to get the text value from the simple search textbox and use the values in your custom DQL. I believe the text box is in the titlebar.jsp. You can restrict the search in your custom DQL (eg where r_object_type = 'type1' or r_object_type = 'type2')
