Bread crumbs in wdk

Hi,

We have a customized menu bar in our application.

My requirement is we need to have Breadcrumbs for the user selection

For example user select File and then import from menu bar

we should have breadcrumb like

Home>Import

How can this be achieved..? Is there any component in wdk that implements this feature?

Any document available in EMC regarding this..?(Couldnt find anything of this in wdk customization pdf )

Please Help

This will require customization. There is no "audit" of the specific menu actions. You will need to customize all of your actions to create a custom audit of what the user clicks.

Could you please elaborate how can we create audits of what the user clicks and what should be incorporated with actions and finally have breadcrumbs?

You can create custom audit trail using DFC - see Content Server Admin manual for more details. In each of your "extended" actions, you will need to call this same this DFC code. Once you have custom audit, you can query for it and dynamically generate your breadcrumb.

Johnny, If the user clicks on import and import again, how can the audit mechanism helpful for him? I believe it requires lot of coding if we go through audit mechanism.

Breadcrumb are basically used to represent location like path to cabinet / folder. So if user click on any part user is navigated to that location.

What do you want to achieve by creating breadcrumb like 'Home > Import". OTB behavior does show cabinet/folder location from where user perform import.

I believe you have custom components for Taxes, Geographies, Users and Reports.

In those components implement the breadcrumbs control.

the purpose of OTB breadcrumb is different than what you are trying to achieve. in this case, i would suggest to customize the custom components to display the custom label, assuming that you are not using any OTB component otherwise you'll have to customize too many components.

- If you dont to audit, then you have to some how store the values of what the user clicked in memory or in cookie. If you read my first response, I already indicated that what you want to do will require a lot of customization.
