How to identify which button was pressed in a task?

Hello,

I am having trouble with finding a solution for this:

I have a user task in a workflow that can lead to one of 3 user tasks: Forward, Reject, Wait for documents.

In the form I can only use finish buttons to finish the task. How can I determine which button was pressed in the form?

The client doesn't want to select the option from a dropdown and then click finish... The client wants 3 buttons.

Any ideeas?

I assume you use the Forms Builder to build your user task form?

If so, then one of the possibilities would be to bind buttons to a workflow variable and set it's value according to the button's function, when the button is pressed.

Subsequently in the workflow template logic you can interrogate the value of that variable and know which one was pressed.

Yes, I am using Forms Builder, and I thought of mapping the buttons to a wf variable, but I don't see how.

There isn't a Data&Storage tab on the button's properties, so how do I bind it?

Yes, you're right, there isn't a " Data&Storage tab". Oh this Forms Builder... I did do this kind of functionality in WDK customization - it's relatively easy.

I can share some code if you need.

Sure. Here's an example. Mind, this is just an example, not something ready to use

Extend the taskmanagercontainer

Then use the taskManagerContainer.jsp (located in \webcomponent\library\workflow\taskmgrcontainer\)

Copy it to /custom

and place your custom buttons within the customized jsp (name it something - MyCustomTaskManagerContainer.jsp)

In the component class (com.my.custom.MyClass) define a method - something like this

Subsequently in the WF logic you can read the value of the variable wfVariableName and find out which button was pressed.

If you are using forms builder, you can extend taskmanagerformcomponent and override oncustomclick event. In that event you need to verify the control by its name.
