Question with repeating attributes

Hello Experts,

I have three reapating attributes in my custom type, citizen_name, citizen_last_name, sent_date.

The citizen_name, citizen_last_name, attributes store tha name and last name of citizen and sent_date storse the date when mail ware sent to that particular citizen.

Now the problem is that I want to show them in a form and I have three drop down list controls for them.

Now the problem is that if I have three citizen names like A,B, and C and if a mail were sent to B and C the records in drop down list moves up and it seems as if a mail had been sent to A and B but not to C, which is wrong.

What I want to do is to create a link beetwin that three records. Is that possible, please give me some suggestions.

An alternative would be using a read only table, but I can't use it because I have an invoke button which receives selected citizens id as an input variable and allows to open the citizen's profile form. But in readonly table the user must have to have write permission on the object to do this.

- Whats wrong giving them WRITE permissions and then just making the controls on the form read-only? We use readonly table in similar situations.

Hello Johnny,

We use the same acl for a case folder and also for the documents under it. Our customer wants to keep track of all changes in the documents of any case so I grant version permission to any user that receives the case for processing.

If I grant write permission then the documents can be edited and saved as the same version and in that case our customer will not be able to track changes.

An alternative would be using different acl's for case and documents, but this will require a huge amount of work and change most of the process templates we have designed so far.

So I don't want to grant write permission and trying to find and alternative. One thing that I can't understand, why the readonly table requires write permit. They should have named it writeonly instead of read only.

Any other ideas?

Readonly table doesnt need write permissions specifically, I think this may be due to your requirements of your invoke button.

But without write permission it is not possible to select a particular row.

How did you map the three attributes in your read-only table configuration? I presume you are using an adaptor to populate the table.

Yes I use adaptor, is there any other way? For one of them (r_object_id) I set save data to yes.Then I map it as an input value to my invoke button. When user chooses a particluar row and click on the button it launches a form that displays some detailed info about the citizen. But this works only with write permit.

Are you using DQL adaptor or a custom one? If DQL, what is your DQL look like?

select s_cid, s_cname, s_clastname from s_case_citizen where ......

Where, s_cid is the r_object_id of the form that I want to open with the button.

Whats the rest of your where clause? I'm trying to duplicate this in my DEV env.

Ok then of course you dont have my custom type so test something similar this,

select r_object_id, object_name, subject from dm_document where owner_name='Johnny Gee'

You created eForm right? If so, are you querying against existing objects or the values in the eForm itself?

No I created a Folder Information and it pulls the data from the folder itself. But if I am not wrong that does not change anything it works in the same way for all cases.
