Dynamically Creating VF Configuration Data on the Server side.

Hi, I need to create dynamic VF config file, after reading the documents I figured out this what I have to do

datacapture.cfg:

Does any one has a working code for the above. Specially for defining the path (eWebEditPro.parameters.path + "config.asp?id=1" Smiley Wink

and example of config.asp?

How "Dynamic" is your VF Configuration ? "Dynamic" depending on what ?

If all you want is different Configuration for different classes of Users (like "Power User"
and "Regular User") it's easier to create few desired VF Configuration Files up front and then provide a reference to it from DCT.

The syntax is:
<textarea rows="10" cols="75" required="t" external-editor="visualformat" external-editor-config="vf_power_user_conf.xml"/>

To make configuration differ upon DCR opening you can create an inline script to build text tag dynamically
(depending on requirements) and return substitution with desired external-editor-config attribute.

I need to update the quicklink dropdown list with the available DOC and Html files in a workarea. I figured out a way to keep config file in each workarea and create it from scratch everytime a DCT is opened. But this would pose a probem when multiple user are updating the Same DCT. Is there any way to add below selction options to the config file through datacapture.cfg?

Unless I misunderstood...

Are you trying to completely regenerate config file(s) every time somebody opens a DCR just to reflect
dynamically changing available drop-downs? If so, the proper way to do it is to create your own little widget
with CGI (or whatever you prefer) and include a link to it into single "static" VF configuration.

Widget script will traverse the source dir's, collect desired assets and show drop-down with appropriate labels.
From what you've told me, you should be doing smth similar already just to stick it into conf file. So, there is just
GUI portion left to code. Search DevNet, there are few threads to help you with creating your own VF widget...

I am trying to make this code work. but VF still points to visualformatconfig.xml, Instead of the one created by the cgi.
Am I doing something wrong?, Config.cgi prints out the xml config file.
