Summary: Inplace upgrading Documentum (OEM edition, 6.5SP2 to 6.6) is not supported, so need ideas on data migration after upgrading.
Details:
We try to upgrade Documentum from 6.5 sp2 to 6.6, the OEM Edition. The installer of OEM 6.6 requires no existing EMC Documentum products on the host machine, so we had to uninstall the existing Documentum for upgrading. That is, the installer for OEM edition doesn't provide the option of upgrading.
After installing 6.6, we need to restore data in newly installed Documentum 6.6. We have tried to restore both database and data directory in file system manually. This approach didn't work: the content server lost reference to the repository defined in 6.5 after this manual migration of the data.
Installation guide for Enterprise edition says "Do not uninstall an existing installation to upgrade to a new Content Server release, because all upgrades based on an existing installation." So this issue is not shared by enterprise Documentum users/admins.
Does anyone here have any suggestions on how to approach this issue? Any thoughts are welcome. Your help is greatly appreciated.

J
