Documentum start/stop

Hello Experts,

I have a quetion regarding to documentum start stop. In linux I have started repository ahead of docbroker, after the repository had been opened I found out that the docubroker was down. Now I have started the docbroker but at this time the docbase does not send connection information to docbroker. Now I want to stop the docbase and restart it, when I try to shutdown it it throws error indicating that the docbroker does not know about the docbase. If I try to start it it says the docbase is already running. The only way to fix the issue is restarting the OS. Do you know any other way to stop the docbase manually, for the case I described above it is not possible to stop it with start stop script.

You could try to kill the process of the repository (and possible related processes).

It's tricky though.

You need to look for the pid (process id) that corresponds to your docbase. Assuming your DCTM owner is dmadmin, the linux command to list pid would be something like this:

ps -fu dmadmin

Locate the pid number (eg 12345) that has your "docbase_" in the description, and kill it using something like this:

kill -9 12345

The docbase may have spawned off child processes, so you may have to kill several pid.

ps auxwf | grep documentum

will help you to find process ids.

Thank you very much, but I though there is some other way documentum script or stuff like that.

Scripts work only if you follow the proper sequence. If you look into the scripts, you will notice that they actually "ping" the pid of the DCTM service to check if its still running before it comes back and says the docbase has shutdown successfully.
