cant change aging_method attribute error

Hi,

When i tried applying a new retention policy on a record which has already a Retention policy applied on it, it throws me the below error and it does not allow me to apply the new retention policy on the record. But im able to find the entry for the newly applied retention policy on the dmc_rps_retainer object type.

Error: [DM_SYSOBJECT_E_CANT_CHANGE_RETAINER_TYPE]error:Can't change the value of aging_method attribute of an existing retainer object (0802152b801a8321)"

Also please note that this error does not occur for all the cases and it occurs randomly.

So please help me in solving this issue.

- How are you doing this (ie via RPSA or custom code)? To find out meaning for values for various attributes, look in the Content Server Object Reference Manual.

Have you tried applying other retention policies to this document? You can apply multiple retention policies to a single document.

i have tried applying other retention policies to this record but it throws the same error

"Can't change the value of aging_method attribute of an existing retainer object(99993030302XXXXXX)"

but sometimes it gets applied successfully for the same retention policy.

I do not know in which scenario it is getting applied successfully and in which scenario it is not getting applied, because its behaviour is very random.

I'm not sure why applying a second retention policy would try to update the existing one. Have you submitted a ticket with EMC support? This error message should be easily tracked down.
