Is there a way to abort/destroy another workflow from within a Process Builder Activity?

I've been looking for a way other than DFC or API to abort a workflow from within a Process Builder activity, but can't seem to find anything.

Is there a way to do that other than DFC or API?

Or can I somehow run an API command from within a workflow activity?

Out of the box, no not that I can think of....

my first thought would be a custom workflow method that take a running workflow id argument and stops it.... You may also want to add an option to delete the workflow if you do not want to many hanging around

but as Brian Dinneen already pointed you can write your own java code and use that in custom workflow method. You can use workflow method in auto-activity.

If you have Id/name of the workflow to be terminated then you can also use the DQL write activity. Hope it helps

Make sure that you configure the workflow method to "Run As Server" to avoid any permission related issues.

Sagar - what DQL statement are you referring to that you could use in DQL write to halt/terminate workflow? Not all DFC commands has an equivalent in DQL. If there is a new function, I definitely would like to know.

Hi Sagar, I will have the ID and name of the workflow to be terminated. Like Johnny, I think it would be great if there were some DQL to do this, even if it requires a few separate activities in the workflow. Please elaborate on your response if possible.

He might be referring to DELETE dm_workflow OBJECT where r_object_Id=...

but this does not halt/abort it. It only allows you to delete the workflow if its not running.

May be he kept in mind that you could change the runtime state to 'Completed' or 'Aborted' (if I remember correctly this r_runtime_state attribute and values are 2 and 4).

Setting r_runtime_state to aborted value does NOT equate to actually aborting the workflow. This is read-only value to allow you to query status of workflow. This is similar to saying that you can change lifecycle state by changing its state value, but reality, if you promote or demote, you can trigger lifecycle actions. Changing state value does NOT trigger lifecycle actions.
