Custom forms builder taskspace form requirement

Hello Experts,

We have a custom requirement, we have to build a form something like below. When the users select department name from "Department name" box the "User name" drop down list should be populated based on the value of the "Department name" box. Now I have created a table and an adopter for the user name dropdown however it always selects the first records value.

The first row works as expected but the rest don't.

Please share if you have any ides based on this.

Is the department names in a List control ? If so, then did you try using data source adaptor to populate the user list. Please share the screen shot of your adaptor configuration.Thanks

I have correctly configured the adaptor. However there is no way to config the input parameter to take the current row's value. It always chooses the first row's value.

This is one biggest problems with current version of Forms Builder. There is no support for value assistance based on repeating rows. The only workaround we could come up with is to predefined the number of rows available (eg 10). This way you had index available (ie 2nd col) that the value assistance (ie 3rd col) can reference directly in the adaptor.

Thank you very much for the reply.Yes it seems that there is no a better solution. I though about the creating index as well but nothing came to my mind. Is there any way to configure auto indexing for each row.Is there any way to generate different index for each row with xpath function or something similar.

Can you please share your solution.That one is very important for us so we have to find a solution as soon as possible.

We spoke to someone who built some of the xCP xcelerators and he agreed that hard-coding the index is the best workaround he has seen. The issue isnt the auto indexing, its how to tell the adaptor which row you are referring to.

Yes I know, maybe they have already done something similar and will send it me for free.Just in case.

By the way is it too expensive? I have several custom requirements that can not be done using the standard tools, and there is no information on doing them in any guide. My be I should talk with our managers and force them by a license.

If I remember correctly, its not much different from EMC professional services. I think the difference is scope. Developer support is more like 40-80 hrs, where prof svcs is full blown implementation.

You can develop an easy WDK component instead of using Forms Builder.

I know this is not an answer to your needed but I suggest to use it since I realized that doing so for complex manual tasks can reduce development time and increase user experience.

Actually what you said will work for my case as well. I have opened the xforms file in text editor and I see that there is a function xforms:at="index('Table1TableColumn')" which knows what the indexing is.Now I don't know how to pass this stuff to the adptor. Can you help on that if you have any information on that. If I was able to send it to the adaptor the rest of the story should be easy.

Possibly that should be inside the adaptor's class file right? or is there any way to pass it as an input param.

I didnt actually do the coding, but I think the developer used naming convention for the control for value assistance (row1col3) and and parsed out the index (eg X=1) and used that to extract the dependent value (rowX_col2).
