As InterWoven Developer, You Should Know :

1.DataCapture Templtes - For Capturing Content
2.Presentation Templtes - For Generating the Content
3.WorkFlows - For Automation
4.Open Deploy and DataDeploy - For Deploying the Content to Live Site and Database

These are minimum basic things for Teamsite Developer.

what is the current state of the system ? Brand new or taking over ?

Is there an architect ? Often whoever does development ends up being the
TS architect as well. That can be very bad if the person does not have the
experience to set things up correctly.
