VisualAnnotate concurrent

Can anyone tell me if VisualAnnotate works with concurrent review job? I am susing TS 6.5 on solaris with VA enabled.

Note: VisualAnnotate cannot be used with concurrent-review workflows which enable users to review files simultaneously. If two reviewers annotate the same document concurrently, only the work of the reviewer who saves his annotations last is stored; the annotations of the other reviewer are lost. --fish

Well, if you think about the problem, it's the same issue you have if you think you can let two people edit a file at the same time. It's just not possible.

Now, you might be able to come up with a really convoluted workflow that has concurrent read only user tasks and if/when a user wants to edit/annotate, they transition to an external task that checks to see if anyone else is editing/annotating. If no one is, it transitions that user to the edit/annotate task. If someone else already is, it transitions them back to their read only user task.

But I would just address it at the requirement level and let them know that it is not possible.

I don't believe you understand the problem. It is the same thing as trying to allow two people to edit the same file at the same time. It doesn't work. As I stated before, you could do some really convoluted coding that would be a horrible user experience to get something to kind of work. But it could never be truly concurrent.

Your best option is to explain to your users that concurrent editing of files is not possible. Annotating is another form of editing and therefore and not be done concurrently.
