iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi error

When doing a preview using a non-administrator user (user who does not belong to the Administrators group on teamsite server) we get an Internal Server Error (500).

The error.log has the following lines in it.

Premature end of script headers: iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi

We traced this issue to be the iw_cgi_wrapper issue, which is not able to perform some task (probably setting uid or something) that only an administrator can do ie, this cgi is probably getting executed as the user who invokes it and not the administrator.

Also, the error is not only related to preview, but also any CGI requests through iw_cgi_wrapper.
For eg:, http://localhost/iw-bin/iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi/show_env.cgi
gives an error while
http://localhost/iw-bin/iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi/show_env.ipl and http://149.184.187.50/iw-bin/show_env.cgi does not give any error.

Is there a way to fix this without adding the users to administrators group?

Strange -- it should work right out of the box, but when you "do a Properties" on iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi, what settings are there? Do you know if something had been done to this file or if it had been altered in some way?

Dave, Thanks for your reply. There has been some permission resetting on iw-home, but i can see that the iw-home directory and all the files under it do have full permissions for the user/group and even for Everyone. But we had some break through today when we observed that the preview is working fine when the group is added to the I: drive (where iw-home and iw-store resides) and all the files under it. This is somewhat better than adding users to the administrators group and is acceptable to the management. But this would not be the ideal resolution as future branch set ups on this server may run into this issue again. Any idea what the wrapper CGI is trying to do on the drive?
