How to update custom attribute of type ID with r_object_id of object.

Forgot to give the correct query, though

execsql,c,update ekb_document_s set ford_legacy_chronicle = (select i_chronicle_id from dm_sysobject_s where r_object_id=ekb_document_s.r_object_id)

But I still wonder whether this is necessary?

r_object_id may already existing depending if your custom type is extending from dm_sysobject. If you are extending it from dm_sysobject, then this attribute cannot be updated, since the content server already manages this attribute. In this scenario, just create another custom attribute (eg ref_id).

Yes we have created custom attribute of type ID (legacy_ID) and for this attribute we are trying to set value ‘ r_object_id’ of object using the below query but getting the error mentioned.

Update custom_document object set legacy_ID=r_object_id

Query Error:[DM_QUERY_E_UP_NOT_ATTR]error: "The attribute r_object_id is not an attribute of the specified type."

Try this:

Update custom_document object set legacy_ID="r_object_id"

Use double quotes (instead of single quotes) when trying to set value of one attribute that is stored in another attribute

Same error is repeating.

When trying to update same custom attribute with i_chronicle_id we are not facing any issues.

Update custom_document object set legacy_ID= i_chronicle_id.

Why this issue is repeating while updating attribute value with r_object_id.

Strange. Have you run the data dictionary publishing job? Where are you running the DQL from? If DA, restart the app server after job finishes. If Repoint, restart eclipse.

Restarted the eclipse still facing the same issue.

Try copying to some intermediate attribute:

Update custom_document object set a_special_app="r_object_id"

If this doesnt work, then you call always use SQL

this is VERY strange, but I'm getting the same error when I try this. Does work with i_chronicle_id, but not with r_object_id.

However, it's working if you do run

update <type> object set idattr= (select r_object_id from <type> where r_object_id = '09xxxxxxx')where r_object_id = '09xxxxxxx'

Something VERY clever inside the internal DQL machine, it seems

Good investigation Jørg. However, I think the OP wants to apply this across all custom object types (not just one). We use similar approach using SQL update when we want to preserve r_modify_date when we need to bulk update to objects.

I guess so, yes. Seems to be related to r_object_id only, though. I'm getting

"The attribute r_object_id is not an attribute of the specified type.";

whenever I'm trying to update ANY attribute with r_object_id.

So updating the underlying tables by SQL seems to be the only choice if you need to update many objects at the same time, then?

as I mentioned, DQL doesn't support usage of r_object_id this way. It's kind of weird, but not much to do about it.

You would have to use an SQL query to update the underlying tables directly

DA/Tools/Api Tester, and run API call

execsql,c,update <your_type>_s set idattr=r_object_id

You may consider to run an additional query to reflect changes to all these objects by updating the i_vstamp

execsql,c,update dm_sysobject_s set i_vstamp=i_vstamp+1 where r_object_type = 'your_type'

Its throwing the below error message.

set ford_legacy_chronicle_id=i_chronicle_id is DQL statement. You need to translate your query into SQL if you want to use execsql.

this is bound to fail, since i_chronicle_id isn't a column of ekb_document_s

It's defined in dm_sysobject_s. r_object_id is defined in all subtypes as well, and used to join the different object tables.

It looks like you're replicating a lot of data, and I wonder whether this is really necessary?
