Session has no more references

Hello ,

I have a regular table with about 500 pdf documents displayed . Each document is a link which opens the document with a ViewUCF action. After opening about 50 documents , the whole application tries to reload the index.jsp file and some weird behavior happens. After looking at the logs , we see "has no more references" log .

When does this log happen and how can this be prevented

Because we see a link between the "has no references" log and the app being reloaded (index.jsp being invoked)

Dont you guys know every time you "fetch" an object, you are consuming memory on both Content Server (for your specific user session) as well as app server (for rendering of the page). Web apps are not designed to display thousands of objects on single page (I'm not talking about static html pages).

Hi Johnny!

I do not want to display thousands of objects, I just need to serve them in a .zip file.

I know this is consuming a lot of memory but I consider applications are not intented to crash when using a single session, load a large amount of objects and send them to any client.

Developers need to keep an eye on memory consumption, it's also the garbage's job.

For information, my problem comes from

ORA-12520: TNS:listener could not find available handler for requested type of

server

I have to change Oracle configuration (process number...)

Does the user actually selects X number of documents from 500+ objects listed? Or are you trying to zip all the objects listed in the table? If the latter, then you can do this as a server method. If the former, then like I said, each document that displayed using doclist/objectlist component is consuming some memory. You may be better off just creating a html table and populating with r_object_id. This way WDK is not fetching the objects in memory.

The user selects X number of documents and gets a .zip containing a large amount of informations.

I think I cannot use a server method since ACL must be taken into account (my server methods use dbo)

I do not need to display objects in objectlist component.

Not only can you use a server method but you should: it makes no sense doing this at the client because you need to transfer all the content files before zipping them.

You are correct that permissions should be taken into account. You just need to call IDfSysObject.getPermitEx(<username>) for each document and check that he has at least READ permission.

But I'm wondering what would be the benefit of using a method server instead of a webtop customization (with a webserver installed on Content server itself) ?

Not many benefits if the app server is on the same box as Content Server. Perhaps less impact on the front-end side than it it was running on Java Method Server.
