Stateful and Stateless

Hi. I have a few questions around how Documentum works.

We know that Webtop is a stateful web application where the users session data exists on the application server. If a given application server goes down, so do all the users sessions that existed on it. My questsions are:

1) Is D2 4.0 stateful like Webtop?

2) Is D7 or NGIS going to change that (assuming the answer to #1 is yes)?

- Not necessarily true. If you app server is clustered, then only certain actions get lost. Other actions may persists.

What if I want no actions to be lost when an instance goes down?

Trying to find out if a truely stateless environment is on the horizon for Documentum.

EMC only made expensive (effort/time by end user) transactions (eg import, search) fault tolerant. It did not do this for other actions (eg copy, browse).

I know that RESTful services will be dominant in D7, so this should help with truely stateless environment. I dont believe you will get that with current version of products. I'm not expert with D2, so I cant say this for sure.

Thanks for the information. Good to see some things moving that direction. Hopefully more things move that way over time.
