I'm hoping this is a joke, but in TS 6.5/Win, the usage syntax for iwcp follows:



Usage: iwcp [-h] [-v] [-r] src dst
        -h                  displays this usage information.
        -v                  displays this command's version number.
        -r                  copy directories recursively.
-r                  copy directories recursively.
        -s                  preserve symlinks while copying.

wonder how long it's been that way! I've got 6.1, and the duplicate entry is there, too...consdiering the state of the standard documention, I'm not sure I'd go with the "intentionally funny" reason LOL...

Well, JEFF, I was using iwcp and was wondering if there's an "f" flag for force. There is not. Then, I noticed the error in the usage syntax and I wanted to tell ALL of my DevNet "friends" about it.

There's no "-f" flag but there's a "-k" flag that might be useful to skip over individual errors while copying directories. Btw, here's the correct usage message:

Usage: iwcp [-h] [-v] [-r [-k]] [-s] src dst
-h displays this usage information.
-v displays this command's version number.
-r copy directories recursively.
-k keep going when some files can't be copied.
-s preserve symlinks while copying.

-k? That's great... where did you find that? Seriously, the command is not in the 6.5 documentation (nice, huh?) and -- well... you see what the usage syntax is like.

I'm curious as to where you found that but in the meantime, thanks for sharing!

I forgot to mention in my previous email that I'm with Interwoven Engineering. The incorrect usage message was mainly because the message catalog for that clt was busted. So if you remove/rename the iwcp.cat file (in <iw-home>/msg/EN, assuming english) and run "iwcp -h", you should see the correct usage. Anyways, this is just an fyi and we don't recommend modifying the catalog files.

I have tried iwcp clt on solaris TS 6.5 but it does not copy the files extended attributes.

That seems very strange considering that's often a primary reason as to why someone would want to use iwcp over a simple "cp" or "copy". What is your environment like (OS-wise)? Could you explain in more detail the process you're going through where iwcp is not propagating the extended attributes?

Well, okay. That wasn't a whole lot of detail but I'm going to suggest that it was perhaps your usage or something else gone awry with your script. This is a core function of what iwcp does.
