backing store query 6.5

hi all,

i've an existing Solaris Box running TS 5.5.2 SP4 where all the content is lying. I've prepared a new Solaris box on TS 6.5 SP1 with empty backing store. I want to copy the content from 5.5.2 to 6.5. I'm planning to copy the backing store from 5.5.2 box to 6.5 box.

Has anybody done this thing. Is there any additional steps required to copy 5.5.2 backing store to 6.5? Please recommend.

Hi Kshitiz,
we copied our TS5.5 backing store on our TS6.5 server and activated the store with iwstoreadm (we are on windows not solaris)...
That's the only thing we have done. After that the store should be usable.

Attention: it's a one way mechanism, if you once activate your 5.5-store under TS6.5, you can't use it under TS 5.5 anymore.
Further information (or perhaps special solaris information) are given in different TS55-to-TS65 migration documents...

did you copy all the users and groups from the existing 5.5 box to the 6.5 box, with exact same UID and GID? I think you need that to avoid a mess with the file ownerships in the backing store.

Also consider the user's passwords? Btw, are users local on the OS, or in some LDAP?

Did you already go ahead with this? Can you share your experiences? We envisage a similar scenario, for 06Q1

EDIT : additional question : why did you choose SP1 over SP2?
