Ingestion contents with metadata

Is there any capability exist in xCP to ingest the contents with its metadata without writing custom code?

Such as documents getting scanned from scanner and ingesting the documents into repository with its metadata without using custom code and Captiva so that source can be any scanning hardware and software.

Who fills the meta data? Where the metadata comes from?

There is no such functionality in xCP. I don't know what all about your requirement, but if you could write the metadata into an XML, you can read and parse this xml with xCP and the associate it with the file. Please give some more info on your requirement.

Within Captiva, you can define index fields that Captiva can extract metadata values from. Then in the Export module, you map these index fields to document attributes and the values can assigned automatically.

Your scenario really has no dependency on xCP as much as Captiva.

I thought about the Capitiva but we are looking solution without Captiva. If a scanner pushing the scanned images in bulk, we like to have automate process to ingest all the bulk images into docbase.

I just would like to know if there is any capability without writing custom code.

- Captiva can do this without any human intervention as you as you images can be mapped to form template. I dont understand why want to "re-invent" the wheel when a product already does this. Plus, cost of Captiva is relatively cheap compared to Documentum.

still if you dont want to go with captiva ..then u need to write custom code ...then u need to follow following steps

1.write a java program that will do following steps

a.Convert your scanned images in searchable pdf file or some word document or in xml file with third party software

b.then need the data and extract same

c.then use dfc import opertion for storing the metadata and content

..but in this for step a u need to do lot of rnd

as Johnny suggest in your case Captiva is the best solution
