Custom search requirement

Hello Experts,

We have a custom requirement which is not available out of the box in taskspace. We have created a search form using forms builder, now the requirement is that the search form should display the number of results found by a particular search query. Please help me to find a way to retrieve the number (count) of results using an adaptor or something else and display it to end users.

I have some requirement like yours. But it is about tasklist form, not search form. May be it will come across a solution.

Requirement - show tasks of queue.

Not very elegant solution, but it works fine and without any code:

1. Create task list form.

2. Create a simple dql adaptor with one hint. It haven't any input parameter (current user is got by USER), but regardless this create one. Create not in dql itself, but in Input parameters (have a look at '1. wq_queue.png').

3. In data model of the form create some attribute, for ex, 'blank_field'.

4. Place some text field or text label control and bind it to the adaptor, bind it's input parameter to 'blank_field'. Bind adaptor on Special tab, for both cases. This blank (or dummy) field is makes to rerun the query.

5. Place custom button. Name it like 'Count tasks in queue'.

Save and Install form template.

6. Go to DA, open your form folder, open to edit dm_xfm_form. Find there configuration of the custom button, and place into <action> tag this code:

<xforms:setvalue ref="/some_tasklist_form/blank" xforms:value="now()"/>

You must got something like this:

<xforms:trigger id="count">

    <xforms:label id="count_label" xforms:ref="instance('strings')/count.label"/>

    <xforms:action>

        <xforms:setvalue ref="/some_tasklist_form/blank" xforms:value="now()"/>

        <dmxfm:runtime-event>onClickCustom</dmxfm:runtime-event>

    </xforms:action>

</xforms:trigger>

Save and check in.

Unfortunately, this hint doesn't work with button 'Search', so I was forced to create additional button. But as I said, it was needn't any code, it was critical for us.
