DD 6.0.2 - dd cfg files

Continuing my endeavor to understand what I'm trying to do with DD ....

Q1: Do I need to create / generate a ddcfg_uds.template file if I'm doing *standalone* deployments?

Q2: Do I need select / update clauses in my deployment config file? The one that was generated from the GUI didn't seem to have any and so I wasn't sure if I needed to create them myself or if they weren't needed.

- This is a filelist deployment of DCR content [not EAs] that will be run via a DNR script from OpenDeploy which is going to be run from a workflow
- The dbschema.cfg has [I believe] been completed, to map all the various fields in the DCR to the various columns in the various tables in the DB

Q1: For standalone deployments, you don't have to use those templates. Those are for DAS. For standalone configs, you can create them manually or go through the OD Admin wizard.

Q2: When using dbschema (user defined schema) , you don't need those update/select statements.

I was following you all the way to the second period above. To verify my understanding - I don't need the ddcfg_uds.template for standalone deployments - but I can create them manually (or through the OD Admin wizard) if I want to.

For what reason might I want to do this?
Also - I didn't see where to create these through the GUI - but I'm not too worried about that right now if I don't need them.

Cool - that had me confused becaue I always remembered seeing those in DD config files (back in the 4.x and early 5.x days) and was a bit worried when I didn't see them in the wizard-generated file.

Those templates have all this DAS related stuff (basearea, deltagen, deltaupdate, submitlist) ... so I just meant it's not applicable to standalone. However, you can start with say the basearea deployment, tweak that... and then take all the other stuff out. That's what I meant by "manually" generate.

In the ODAdmin, there is a wizard under Configurations --> DataDeploy Configuration, for creating standalone configs. Is that what you mean?

I think we were just getting our thoughts crossed.
If the ddcfg_uds.template isn't needed for standalone deployment I won't worry about it.
I was saying I didn't see anything in the wizard to create a ddcfg_uds.template.

I think we can consider this thread resolved.
