Copy of jar files on Content Server 6.7

Hi,

I have created few methods for jobs which is extending IDmMethod and built them into jars. I would like to know if copying these jars on content server in path $Documentum/dba/java_methods is sufficient or should I also copy under $Documentum\jboss5.1.0\server\DctmServer_MethodServer\deploy\ServerApps.ear\DmMethods.war\WEB-INF\lib.

What is the difference?

It should be enough if you place them under $DOCUMENTUM/dba/java_methods.

Just as a side note -- you may already know it -- that it's recommended to use IDfModule instead, and deploy it as BOF module.

Ahmad, do you know why it is recommended to user IDfModule instead of IDmMethod or IDfMethod ?

Because its easy for you to deploy ,build or swiching from one environment to another environment ..like devlopment to test -->staging and production..

so everthing will be take care by SBO

Since it is a BOF module (IDfModule), it can be hot deployed like any other BOFs, and hence no JMS restart is required, unlike IDmModule when deployed to dba/java_methods. You can avoid JAR ****. (reference here http://donr7n.wordpress.com/2008/10/20/methods-as-bof-modules). You can include your module (IDfModule) in a DAR and can deploy it in multiple environmenmts along with other artifacts (avoid manual deployment of JARs directly to CS host, under dba/java_methods). These are some benifits. I believe, dba/java_methods (IDmMethod) is deprecated as well. So, you can see some benifits here.

Thanks Ahmad. My environment is currently down. Even I had the same understanding of placing the jars just inside /dba/java_methods. Howerver, I was been questioned about the other path (Documentum\jboss5.1.0\server\DctmServer_MethodServer\deploy\ServerApps.ear\DmMethods.war\WEB-INF\lib) and hence wanted to reconfirm on forum.
