What are the pros/cons to use multiple CS instances?

Hello Community! Happy 2013 for everybody!!!

I was wondering to create more than one CS instance in the same host and accordingly the CS 6.7 Installation Guide it is possible to have more than one CS instance in the same host accessing different repositories.

I have a scenario which I cannot create more virtualized hosts, but I can use the current one (with big ammout of resources) adding new CS instances to cover the new demands and to attend the client requirements that is to separate CS instances by department.

I'd like to share my concerns with you, because maybe for me (I hope only for me ), it's an unusual architecture. So, what are the prons and cons to use multiple Content Server instances in the same host?

For a development environment, it's normal. However, for production environment, depending on you scenario, it'd be best to have dedicated host for each. This will work if you are on UNIX environment. I don't think it would work in a Windows platform. You will need to have different installation owner for each of your CS installation (with different .profile which will have different values for your environmental variables, i.e. $DOCUMENTUM, $DM_HOME, etc...)
