Renaming a Deployment File

Hi,

Is it possible to re-name a file that is being deployed by OpenDeploy?

I would like to deploy a DCR with a relative path such as /templatedata/datacategory1/datatype1/data/file1.dcr to a remote server, but I'd like to give the DCR a different file extension in it's destination directory while keeping the original extension in my TeamSite content folder. Any thoughts?

You can have a DNR script that runs on the receiver that copies the deployed file(s) to change their extension (if you rename / move the files - they will get deployed *every* time the deployment is run - unless it's a filelist deployment, in which case it shouldn't matter).

A better approach might be to force the naming of the DCRs to jive with what you want the deployed files to use - and then you don't need the DNR script.

There is nothing about the file extension (or lack of one even) that is required by FormsPublisher. Any requirement on extension is generally part of some customization and thus can often be changed with a modicum of effort.

I am deploying config files with servername as prefix for the files' name. I would like to rename the files after they get deployed.

DNR Script may help in this scenario. But see the following.

I am doing Edition deployment. So, I am not sure how I get the filelist to know what config files got deployed. And I need the filelist on the targetserver. So that I can go thru it and rename the files listed in there. I welcome if anyone has any inputs on this.

It's not too dificult to make a DNR script the parses the in-memory log of what's been deployed and finds files with a given prefix or suffix and copies them into place after the deployment (I suggest copying rather than renaming - because otherwise the file will *always* get deployed even when unchanged).

I suggest you work on this a bit more yourself - if you figure it out yourself the code will be much easier to maintain (and you'll have earned your income ;-)
