OpenDeploy downgrading?

Hi,
We are in the process of upgrading from TS 5.5.2 / OD 5.6 to TS 6.5 / OD 6.0.2.
Due to the time it takes to upgrade our portal server on which OD(rcvr) resides, this server will be taken off line for an extended period of time, so we will point our production TS/OD(sender) server to deploy to our Test OD(rcvr) server, which will be 'live' during that time.
This Test server already has OD 6.0.2 on it. However we've realised that the current production OD 5.6 sender won't be able to deploy to OD 6.0.2 rcvr (according to interwoven's compatibility chart https://support.interwoven.com/resources/products/compatibility/opendeploy.asp)
Thus what we need to do is downgrade OD rcvr 6.0.2 on Test server to 5.6, by uninstalling 6.0.2 and installing 5.6 (with SP1).
Then, when our portal server is done, we'll need to re-upgrade the Test server back to 6.0.2 so it can work with the rest of our Test environment.
Has anyone undertaken this downgrade/upgrade procedure before - did you encounter any problems?
Or is there a better solution to this scenario?

You might be able to run both version of OD Rxer together. You might want to check the forums/documentation.

The safest thing is to uninstall 602, install 5.6 and the sp and then upgrade back just as you described. You can install 5.6 with 6.0.2, however that could be tricky with regards to ports. If your 602 install used default ports, then you have to be sure to pick new ports for your 56 install.

While the downgrading now and upgrading later may be "safer" - IwovGraduate is correct - you can install both the 5.x and 6.x receivers on the same system and deploy to both of them --- as long as you use DIFFERENT PORTS for each receiver.

This should mean that you need to change the odnodes.xml file on the one of the BaseServers to match whichever port it's corresponding Receiver will be listening on - and open the new port on the firewall if you're deploying through one.

Also - check the compatibility matrix - because ever since 5.5.1 (and thus 5.6) OD has generally supported down-rev deployments - so deploying from a 6.x Base Server to a 5.6 Receiver might work without the need to mess around with the ports.
