Xplore the Search

Hello Experts..

We currently have Xplore 1.0 implemented for the below combination

CS=6.6

AS=Tomcat6.0.20

Server=Win2003 SP2

due to some reported issues with saved search and indexing of some of the drawing files, EMC suggested us to upgrade to any version starting Xplore 1.1.

Due to the requirement for Win2008 for Xplore 1.1 onwards, business is hesitant as that will call for additional funding requirements to upgrade the server first, so in light of the above facts I have been asked to provide the below info, and thats presisely what I am seeking from the community.

1) Atre there any search product other than Xplore which can be implemented on the same infra [as currently available], without having to upgrade the server env to Win 2008.

2) Other search products available in the market like Autonomy, Google search Appliance etc... have a connector interface and are known to have a performance hit on the overall setup, so:

2.1) If anyone[who has worked on any other search tool, including the above two], could advice on the performance.

2.2) Would you advice on any other search product.

1) There is no other supported products that are in integrated with Documentum besides xPlore

2) These other products are not free, so they would require funding as well.

The 3rd party search tools would also probably want Server 2008 at minimun also, so no cost saving for business, just a lot more complex environment which cost more to immplement and maintain!!!
