Number of Visusal Format Text Areas in a dct

Hi All,
Is there are restriction on the number of Visual Format textarea which can be placed on one dct. I got a dct where i have to place 45 textareas ( visual format). When i create a new dcr its showing up fine but when i close the dcr i'm geting IE error. If i place only 10 Visual Format textarea its fine but if i place 11 or more i'm geting an IE error which ultimately clsoes the teamsite window.

I'm attaching the datacapture.cfg with this post and also the screen shot of the error which i'm geting.

I'm using Teamsite 5.5.2 on solaris.

5.5.2 is no longer supported.
The use of VFE as in-line-editor for textareas was definitely limited in 5.x - and as such it was recommended that the VFE be handed as an external-editor instead.

in 6.5 the handling of the VFE as an in-line editor was significantly improved so that there is no longer an issue with having lots of VFE fields on a DCT form - only one will ever be active at any one point in time (this was the problem in 5.x- multiple VFE fields could be active at the same time and IE didn't like that)

You seem to be using VFE as an external-editor - but that doesn't mean you've resolved all the problems inherent in the old paradigm - especially if more than one of the external editors is enabled at any one point in time (?).

I suggest you look into upgrading ASAP - to get back to a supported system and to [hopefully] fix the problems you are seeing now with an unsupported system.

We will be upgrading to 6.5 in Jan or Feb of next Year. Does this mean that i wont be able to use Multiple VFE Teaxt area ( >10) till we upgrade it.

It means you won't be able to get official support for any problems that arise from using > 10 VFE fields until you upgrade.

I don't know if any such problems exist in 6.5 right now (perhaps someone else can comment on that) - but if you do run into problems - you'll be on a supported platform and much more likely to be able to get a patch.
