Not able to install content server 6.7 on red hat linux 5

Hello Experts,

I am trying to install content server 6.7sp1 in Red Hat Linux 5 but not able to proceed and receiving below error message even after setting the environment variables in .profile of the user. Suggest me what can be done.

hi,

If you are running Content Server on UNIX or Linux, create the installation

owner’s

account and set variables in the installation owner’s environment before

you install. Also

create two groups and ensure that the shared C library is available.

Hi,

we have been trying to install with a user account and not able to go further. So, we have created another account with name dmadmin and had set all the env variables and when tried to start installation then it was giving error related to not able to open the display. Is this some thing related to C library not available to these user accounts? could you please provide some details related to two groups creation and C library availability.

- This means that admin who created the dmadmin user profile for you did NOT update the display setting for dmadmin acct to launch x windows.

we have created a VM virtual machine and in that we have Red Hat Linux installed. so for that it should be getting the default settings when a root creates a user

Did you verify that - the dmadmin profile?

You may need to export DISPLAY variable to your IP address from your immulator. i.e.

export DISPLAY=127.0.0.1:1.0

Also try to reload your profile, in case you added environment variables in the same shell session, i.e.

. ~/.profile

we have updated the .profile but it is not reflecting when we try to echo $DOCUMENTUM. not sure what it is having a problem in accessing for the .profile.

Is that you are referring to the linux terminal inside the VM ware workstation as immulator? and from where should we mention the IP address?

Typically you use your laptop (workstation) to connect to your Linux/UNIX host and to perform installation. For that, you use putty or other tools i.e. xming. Then you need to provide the IP address of the machine (your laptop i.e.) for DISPLAY variable.

also can you paste the content of your .profile here?

What's the value of $DOCUMENTUM, when you do an echo? i.e.

echo $DOCUMENTUM?

If you don't see (/usr/local/documentum), then the .profile is not for your install owner account.
