Configurational changes needed in Content server side when IP/Host name of database server changes .

Hi ,

We are planning to migrate our database server from 32 bit system to 64 bit system . Due to which the IP/Host name of our database server will be changed (As database is going to be hosted in a new system).Please let me know what configurational changes required from content server end to incorporated the changes in database end ? What steps should we follow ? Which configurational files need to be changed ?

Check the bugs section, there was a bug in earlier 6.x which caused a lot of trouble when changing IP. I think it's fixed in the latests SP for 6.5 (At least we suffered a non-expected IP change in a 6.5SP3 and everything kept running just fine...)

If you move your database to a different host you need to update your database client connection settings to match the new target host. eg for Oracle have a look at your tnsnames.ora or your Oracle ldap. As long as the database name and user/password remains the same there are no changes needed for your content server.

This bug is only when you change the IP Adress of the content server, not the database.
