VFE: Configuring for Limited Functionality
Homeslice
Given some of our requirements, we are attempting to configure VFE in such a way as to keep users from inserting embedded media.
So far, we have been able to gut out much of the basic functionality, leaving behind only the bare necessities like Cut, Copy, Paste Text, all the Hyperlink stuff, and spellcheck. Essentially, we are trying to keep the user from performing any Inserts, Pastes and code-level edits.
The problem is as follows: when running VisualFormat on a Windows client, a user can still Paste embedded media by typing CTRL+V. Since we ONLY want users to Paste Text, is there any way to override this keystroke?

You could use the clean functionality to remove any tags you don't want to appear when a user pastes information in. An example would be to remove all microsoft word formatting garbage if someone was to paste a block of text from within that application. Check out the ektron manual in the ewebeditpro directory underneath iw-home/httpd/iw/ewebeditpro on your teamsite server. I believe there is a PDF file with more detailed technical information on what is possible with their API.

as bk99nd has advised, the best approach is to clean the img and other tags as you see fit, by entering proper tags in the clen section of the VF.
in one of case I had a request to disable the buttons that insert images, but to allow experienced users to manually insert images in the HTML code. this also had been done in the config file

Thanks y'all!!!
I managed to get the Clean functionality working in such a way that it removes all embedded content, and tabular formatting tags. There doesn't seem to be a workaround for the Paste keystroke (CTRL + V), since this is most likely handled by some native Windows process. The only downside is that if some user figured out that you could paste this way, he/she wouldn't be too happy that their content would constantly get cleaned out. But then, that's no longer my problem.
