Connect to two documentum sessions...

Hello Experts,

I have a requirement to connect to 2 Documentum sessions, and then read from one session and write to another.

Both the systems have a repository with same name and users are identical.

Since the option of using any 3rd party tool is ruled out, I am left out with only DFC.

If your two docbases have same name/id, I don't think you can connect to both simultaneousely with same user. You may need to consider this:

1) connect to docbase 1 and export all objects (content/metadata) to a shared drive.

2) connect to docbase 2 and import all objects (content/metadata) from the shared drive to your target docbase.

So essentially you would end up with 2 DFC programs, first one to export from your source docbase and second one to import to your target docbase.

What is the problem?

Will this notation work for clonned docbase too, if they have same name/id? I know docbase_name.server_config will work, if you have multiple-content server/single docbase. But not sure about clonned docbases.

I have always used "docbase_name" (or docbase_name.server_config in LB platform) only when aquiring session. So, I guess @server_host would identify the docbase/clonned docbase uniquely, i suppose (even same docbase if)? i don't have a clonned docbase so that i could test it myself. Thanks for this info.

Because by design docbase names and IDs should be unique (for a given docbroker that is). I have never tried but it's most likely that DFC will be confused and that this will not work.

Hi Panfilov,

In our case, the server configuration name of both repositories are the same.

This is why your case is working compared to ours.

I get server configuration name from the below query, right?

SELECT object_name FROM dm_server_config

And as the guys said, when I write only on brooker in the DFC file of my composer project, it workds, but once I write both brookers with same repository name and server configuration name, the unreachable error occurs.

Any ideas?

Hi Haroon,

Can you elaborate how can I dump all repository objects in an external location and import them again in the new repository?

We need to call all repository artifacts (data & content) from old to new one.
