Patch and new features

Hello Experts,

Could you tell me please where I can get information on new features or changes that every patch has? After installing patch 06, most of my custom activity templates don't work any longer. Where I can get information on what changes cause this problems and what should I do to fix them?

Patches come with a release notes document that states the bugs fixed in the patch. The "suggested policy" by EMC is (or at least was at the beginning) that you sould only apply a patch when you are affected by a bug fixed in that patch.

If you suspect a patch comes with bugs, you either open a Service Request or check these forums

Hi Alvaro,

When you said “suggested policy”, is there any document or a note from EMC that has this suggestion. It is common sense, however, to be able to advocate this to my manager it would be great to have a note/document from EMC. We have suffered in past, upgrading to a new patch for the sake of being “up-to-date” and breaking our things down even when we didn’t need a patch.

I don't think there is such document. The "suggested policy" it is what several EMC employees have told me about that, don't know if it is an "official/supported" policy or just a "don't mess with it if it is working"

Hello Guys,

I have deployed a patch to fix an issue. Now my custom codes don't work. Since, I can't find what was changed, I can't understand what I am doing wrong. So, the only way to fix my problem is by trying different alternatives or writing to the community. A lot of time.

There is a blurb in the patch release notes itself:

"This document is intended for Documentum Content Server 6.7 SP1 customers who have reported issues listed in the Fixed Issues section of this document and require the fixes provided in Patch 01."

It doesnt say that you shouldnt patch if you dont have to, but I think this should be sufficient if you are using this to justify to management.

Rule of thumb: do not put documentum in production until 20th pointfix.
