Changing supertype of an object

Hi All,

I have an object type vacation whose supertype is dm_xform.

Now i want to change the supertype to dm_document. Already that object type consist data .

please let me know how to change the supertype without affecting its content.

please share your suggestion

Hi Bujji,

When you want to change the supertype , you have to know that your metadata will be lost. So in order to keep your metadata, I like to use this method in 3 steps.

1) Read the metadata and use the mongodb tool in order to backup your data (you can use easily hashmap for example)

2) Execute a change type query

3) Write attributes stored in step 1

I am testing in DEV environment and executed below query.still changes are not reflecting

change "dm_xfm_form" (all) objects to "dm_document" where object_name='demoval' and r_object_id='03028413800002b';

objects_changed

===============

(1 rows affected)

Type:demoval supertype is dm_xfm_form.

please let me know if any changes required

Hi,

Your r_object_id contain a '03' object type tag. The object’s current type and the new type must have the same type identifier two use the change function. So your r_object_id should begin with a '09' !

So any solutions is there to change the super type.

cuz i am using this type in eform so whenever i am making changes to form ,every time form instance is creating. so if i changes 50 times .....50 form instances are creating and finally form corrupting. so to avoid this any solution is there ??

change type can be done only from child to parent or vise-versa.
