Content Server re-installed , Need to clone from other environment

Hi All,

We have 3 environments in our customized application : PROD , QA , IT ... PROD & QA are up and running, IT application is fine but the content server for IT has been reinstalled and now this doesnt have any data and now we need to synch up with the other environments.

Ours is a customized application [Java/J2EE] which uses documentum content server as the content management for creation of folders/documents,Workflows,Searches etc...

Current IT Environment - Documentum content server is now reintsalled and now up and running,

But we donot have any datas , customized codes, methods, customized jobs, users, ACL's and anything related to the customized application..

We browsed through solutions like cloning / dump & load & others , but would like to get an advice for the experts and experienced resources who has done this earlier...

Our environment details :

CS : EMC Documentum Content Server (version 6.5.0.122 SP1 HPUX.Oracle)

OS : HP-UX esepdp02 B.11.23 U ia64 1200981935

DB : Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.7.0 - 64bit Production

HW : ia64 hp server rx2660

Need your thoughts in this !!!

The installation owner name is same for all the 3 env, But the password differs with each..

The repository ID is same for all the 3 environments.

If the ID is the same... Seems really simple. My advice :

- Stop your QA environment

- Dump the Database

- Copy the filestore

- Stop your IT environment

- Load the database

- Paste the filestore.

Be careful, your 3 environment needs to be in different network environment.

We have around 4TB of content in QA , Is it possible of ignoring the contents alone and dumping the other metadatas to the IT ?

Or since we are taking entire dump of D/B , we need to copy the filestores is a must ,

Alos if the copy of the filestore is not done ? Will it lead to inconsistency ? And as a result of that will migrations be possible or any other side affects ?

In that case, why don't you explore dump&load option, where you can pick and choose which artifacts you need, excluding the content.

If you want, you can only copy the database and not the filestore, it will work also.

You will get an error message if you try to open content that you have not copied. You have to tell your testers (and other users of the repository) to expect it.

There are some content files that you need to copy (e.g. XML-Files of dm_smart_list or the content of dmc_jar objects of modules/TBO/SBO). I suggest to perform some basic testing and handling the errors regarding those objects case by case.

It shows filesystem paths for content located in /System (jars), /Templates (templates) and /Resources (user settings) folders, for some other required files you can use same approach;
