Open Deploy deployment destination

Just a very basic question. If I have the following configuration in odbase.xml, what do I need to add in order to deploy a part of my workarea to a specific directory on Sun92 server. Is there any other file where the deployment directory can be specified? What does " <path name="/MY/ALLOWED/DIR/PATH-1"/>" mean and how can it be substituted on runtime?
<allowedHosts>
<node host="sun92.abc.com">
<allowedDirectories>
<path name="/usr/iw-home/OpenDeploy/OpenDeployNG/tmp"/>
<path name="/usr/iw-home/local/config"/>
<path name="/MY/ALLOWED/DIR/PATH-1"/>
</allowedDirectories>
</node>
<node host="sun92.abc.com-2">
<allowedDirectories>
<path name="/MY/ALLOWED/DIR/PATH-2"/>
</allowedDirectories>
</node>
</allowedHosts>

you'll probably get a lot of RTFMs on this one ;-) but the quick/short answers are:
on the target server, you edit odrcvr.xml...directories in odbase.xml are only for when the target and source servers (node) are the same...
<path name="/MY/ALLOWED/DIR/PATH-1"/> is a dummy placeholder simply to show you the format of the config file, where you put your own directory pathings, as necessary...the directory paths are NOT substitutable on runtime, which is a good thing for security purposes, IMHO...

Thanks. Just want to confirm the following:
If I want to deploy to a test directory under one of the Teamsite branches, don't I need to specify the source and destination directories in a Deployment configuration file which will be run against iwodstart command during the deployment step of the workflow?

sorry, thought that went without saying, that your OD conf files need to always have a source and a target specification :-)
if you're deploying from your TS server to a different location on the same server, then you will only have to put the target directory location in odbase.xml (there is no odrcvr.xml), and specify both locations in your OD conf file that you pass to iwodstart...the directory specifications within the OD conf can be dynamically substituted at runtime by using the -k command line options to specify the value(s) for the variable(s) in your OD conf files...
