Documentum Application development

I use Documentum eRoom for my project and love it. I need to develop a web application for my client and in it I like to have the features eRoom plugin provides like opening the document (which writes the file to predefined directory on user's machine) and save it back to eRoom when the user saves it in the openned application. Is that something I could do with one of the Dcoumentum tools if so which one?

is probably what you're looking for. It has a different set of features than eRoom but for common content/document management requirements it's ideal. The approach to application development is primarily through configuration, rather than coding, which means you can create and deploy applications quickly and easily.

I do not need to have eRoom in my environment. I have the user's document as a blob in the database. But I need the eroom plugin feature which allows user to directly down and upload documents without user selecting the directory location on user's machine. Is this something I could do with Documentum WDK?

Hi,

I think the feature you're looking for is the standard Documentum "checkin/checkout" (present in D2 and WDK).

Also is storing documents as database blobs a requirement for you ? Because there's more efficient way to store them (filesystem, SAN/NAS)

As I indicated in your other message, WDK solutions are now getting "replaced" by D2.

You should get a look to the D2 features before going for a heavy customization / development solution with WDK.
