In my cgi script ie an .ipl file i have a "Create" link to create a new dcr and a button called "Cancel" button to cancel the action and go back to the previous task which is a group task.

Case 1: When i am in this cgi and click on the cancel button without creating any new records, my scripts does the reverting functionality.

Case 2: When i am in the cgi and click on the create link which would allow me to create a new record then close it and come back to the form. Now when i click on the cancel button , the cancel action is not reverting the task to previous group task.

Could anyone explain me why this is happening.

Reverting Functionality: On clicking the close button i am calling a javascript function which would call the same ipl with a parameter as cancel=true.
then i am checking if cancel equals true and reverting the task back with the help of the 2 clt's iwundochoice and iwuntaketask

I haven't used those two CLTs you describe, so I'm not really sure what they're supposed to do. However, the classic way to do what you're trying to do is to have a successor defined for your cgi task that goes back to the previous task. Then, when cancel equals true, you would do a callback with the appropriate index to send it back to the grouptask.
