How to create DFS Web services with tomcat

Dear exports,

Please suggest how to implement DFS Web services for Content Server 6.7 SP2 in tomcat 6. We've tried as below:

1. In eclipse created dynamic webproject

2. Add all EMC DFS jar's.

3. Created custom Services

4. Build successfully

5. Create Webservice for required class

7.Create WAR file and deploy it on server.

After deployment, when we hit the wsdl we are not getting any out put.

We also tried the same making our local machine as server and created the client, But when calling the services we got the below error:

We've also tried the steps suggested in DFS Development guide i.e created web services and making war through ant script but getting same sort of above error.

In CS 6.5 SP3 we used to implement Web services in JBOSS, But EMC suggested us to move Web services to tomcat as DFS With Jboss is not supported in 6.7

Please suggest how we can implement the DFS webservices with tomcat.

I always do it via the ANT scripts already package with DFS (See Chapters 8 and 9 of the development guide). The only detail is that, ANT generates the packages which are compatible with JBOSS and I'm obliged to adapt them to Tomcat. However, it always work for me.

Hello,

You are creating webservice via Eclipse this will also work, but I will suggest add Axis plugins in eclipse, you will get a better understanding.

Where are you refering this from:-

DFS is supported with JBoss. What is not supported is the deployment of custom services in the JBoss instance provided with the Java Method Server.

Actually, you should not use the DFS server included in the JMS in production environments. DFS should be deployed in a standalone application server, and you can deploy there as well your custom services.

Yes you are correct EMC suggested is same, Deploying custom services in Jboss is not supported. So EMC suggested us move these to tomcat.

Hi Sai,

Did you try HelloService, it will be easy to track the error, as it will be clear that the there is no error because of code. Reason for asking this is, I am seeing "Caused by: com.emc.documentum.fs.rt.ucf.UcfException". In Hello service, it should not come up.

And i will say prefer 1.6.18 as JAVA version. JAVA version is also prime source for UCF error. I will ask you to do the HelloWorld using Apache Axis process. We shall solve it today, Cheers :-)

Hi,

Is your service uses Content Transfer? If yes, check with MTOM is it working fine. If we are able to filter it to UCF error, then there are lot of blogs which can help. Check once let me know.

Thanks for the advise, It's working fine with base64.

So it seems the issue is with UCF only.

When trying with MTOM getting no class definition found error for

org/jvnet/mimepull/MIMEMessage.

But i've mimepull.jar in my web application and in DFS server both.

You need not worry about the DFS server, it will have all the required Jars. For MTOM, can you share the complete error trace.
