Worksite Web 8.0 customization

Hello,

I am in the process of upgrading from WorkSite 7.5 to WorkSite 8.0. After installing WSW, I began looking for the asp files that were available in Worksite 7.x in the script directory. Some of the scripts were customized to suite are needs. However, to my surprise, the scripts are no longer listed in Worksite 8.0. It appears that the asp files are now incorporated into the DLLs. Is there are way that I can make the customization to the login.asp, logout.asp and results.asp files?

You are correct in that we no longer use ASP files for 8.0. As part of our .Net migration, we've moved the source code to C#. In 8.0 you can still make customizations but you must request the source code from Interwoven through DevSupport. In 8.1, we have moved all presentation code to JavaScript files to allow for easier customizations to the UI. We are also publishing an extensive customization guide for WSW 8.1, which will include CSS styles, profiles, and client-side menus.

Thank you for the response. I have another question. Would we run into the same problem if we would have went with WorkSite MP?

I do not work with the MP product line, so I'm not sure how customizations work with that product. Perhaps you could provide details of your old customizations; maybe there's a quick fix. If you don't want to post them on the public forum, you could always send a request to DevSupport.

Here are some of the details we are trying to accomplish;

WorkSite 8.0 Customization Request

We are looking to access WorkSite 8.0 source code to achieve the customization as explained below. Since WorkSite 8.0 is based on .NET technology and the underlying architecture has changed, we don’t seem to have access to source code anymore.

A. WorkSite Login Customization:
We have integrated WorkSite 4.3 with server 7.5 in our application suite called GEMS Web. GEMS Web has its own user authentication module and hence to achieve single-sign-on we have customized WorkSite 4.3 by eliminating the user authentication. Therefore once user has been authenticated by GEMS Web just by push of a button user can directly access WorkSite main page. To achieve this goal the following ASP files were customized:
iManage\WorkSite\scripts\Login.asp
iManage\WorkSite\scripts\Logout.asp

GOAL

We are looking to achieve the same customization namely elimination of login page and direct display of WorkSite main page as we plan to migrate to WorkSite 8.0 soon.

B. Document Profile Display Customization:

While importing document into WorkSite/DeskSite user has to fill out ‘Document Profile’ details as shown in below. Click of ‘Author’ lookup, one of the required fields shows the author list, which exposes all columns of user table including User ID . Considering sensitive nature of our application we want to be able to hide the User ID column from display.

GOAL:

Ability to hide ‘User ID’ column from display
